Problem with free dell laptop

    Here are the cliffs since even I don't like reading the story. :bigthumb:

    -Boss thinks laptop is broke
    -Let's me keep it to try and fix it
    -New AC adapter and everything is fine except...


    Only the far right side of the keyboard works. :ugh: I meant to ask him if he opened up the laptop but haven't seen him for awhile. Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem? I'll crack it open eventually and see if everything looks ok but I figured someone on OT might know offhand. :x:

    I can't fix the fact that it's a Dell... any other ideas? :big grin:

    the top cover along the hinges should pop off, and that will reveal 2 screws that when undone will let you lift the keyboard out. Once it's out, there's a small ribbon cable that hooks from the bottom of the keyboard to the mainboard. Make sure that it's all the way in.

    This works on current inspiron and lattitude models, not sure about yours.
