so i installed the windows update which includes upgrading IE7. the installation went fine and all. but when i finally try to open it up to use it, it'll give me an application error and turns off, can't use it at all. I normally don't care about using IE but i have this annoying icon on my taskbar telling me to update my windows everytime i use it.

any idea why my shit is busted? I'm running XP-media center edition.

IE7 is garbage. Go into "Add/Remove Programs", check the option to "Show Updates", and uninstall IE7. IE6 will automatically be restored.

You need to set your "Automatic Updates" setting to "Notify Me Before Downloading", then you need to open the list of updates that it notifies you about, then you need to un-check the IE7 update, then click OK and tell the Update program to not bother you about the updates you've decided to ignore.
