Hey guys, so I finally got my lower receiver today, and was putting everything together. It was going decent, then I ran into a problem. I pushed my front pivot pin all the way through before I attached the upper. I was following the step by step instructions from AR15.com, and they didn't mention that I had to attach the upper first before sliding the pin through. So is there a way to move the pin without damaging the spring?

Also, I'm building a CA legal AR15, so I got the Prince mag lock kit, but I still don't see how I can load the rifle. Some people have mentioned to break open the rife and top load, but that would mean removing the stock and then the rear takedown pin. Am I missing something, or is this correct?

The front pin by magwell that attaches the upper and lower? Just pull it out, may not want to come out easily push on the side with a pen cap or something.

Just pop out the rear takedown pin and the upper will swivel, load, close, push pivot back in.

They have pins with like, car key rings on them for easy pullout.

Heres a vid I just did.

    http://mynameiswillandthisismywebsite.com/ot/loading ar15.wmv

    1. Push in the rear pivot pin. It will not fall out if your detent pin was install correctly.
    2. Break open the top and it will expose the top of the magazine.
    3. Load.
    4. Close top.
    5. Push in rear pivot pin to lock the upper back on.
    6. Pull back charging handle to slide a round into the chamber.

is it cheaper to build it seperately? Is there a reason why you went this route and not just buying a complete rifle?

You can save some money building your own, can also build it exactly how you want. Building your own also gives you some knowledge about how everything inside works which can help you troubleshoot any future problems.

What day? I might be there on Sunday. Either at Chabot or Los Altos.

I went today, so crowded! Took me 3 hours to get over there from SF, and only 1 hour to come back via san mateo bridge.
