Well everyone in here has been pretty helpful so far answering my questions but I've ran into another small issue. I've got a template that I like and the CSS is all set up but I don't know how to make links target the content area of the page. With the frames I was using before I know it's just target="main" or whatever I label it in a frame, but I don't know how to do this with CSS.

If they're not frames, then you don't target the content of the page, unless it's an iframe. Unless you want to make it dynamic, you have to copy the file and make individual pages linking to all the other pages.

It's possible, but it's not really the way things are done now. You might as well just let the whole page reload. The internet is fast enough now and modern browsers have good enough caches to not need to reload everything again. It will hardly be noticeable.

lol all I want to do is use the template on there and have it so when a link is clicked the content is put in the center of the page (to the right of the links, below the header). I guess I could just make each link load its own entire page and have the content on there, it just seems silly. This is why I wanted to use frames originally but they seem to be way out of date now.

Well, you have to make individual pages to accomplish this. If you don't want to, then you'll need to write an engine of some sort to pull the content and display it in the specified containers.

yeah, don't use frames. yeah. make new pages for everything. if you're using dreamweaver, the template feature will make your life easy with that.

as far as the template you are using, kill it. use another one. those hover links on the left just made my anus drip blood a little. design is a lot about subtleties. when i roll over your link, my eyes start hurting
