What is the process? What paperwork do I need and what involvement do I need to have with the police department, if any?

I'm thinking of buying a Glock 17, and because of that decision I am thinking of selling or trading my XD9 SC for a Glock 26.

If private sale of firearms is legal in your state, you don't need to fill out any paperwork. Just agree on a place to meet up, bring the gun, accept the cash, and you're done.

I'm asking on a local forum and someone mentioned needing a form called a RI-60, which requires information from either a purchase permit or a CPL. Waiting for responses there I guess. This would be in Michigan, of course, if anyone has any experience here.

Has information on concealed carry based on State, but nothing on selling that I can find. Thanks for the link though, I'll probably use it as a source for my paper.

In Florida, you hand gun, they hand cash. Although I would get a bill of sale anyway.
