    Hi everyone!

Thsi is probably an easy as hell questions to answer, but i wanted to confirm my thoughts.

A friend has two windows machines. He has one printer. Instead of dissconnecting the usb cable from one pc to the other (when he wants to print), he would like to have them both connected to it at the same time. Can this be donw with a simple usb hub? Or does he need somethign else?

Thanks for the help! :)

If one of the computers is on all the time, you can connect the printer to that one and share it over the network. Or get a print server so the printer can connect directly to the network and let any computer print directly to it.

    Ditto on the above....

If you do decide to go with the print server, make sure that your printer is compatible.

I have an HP 7660 printer and after buying and returning a printer server and a wireless USB kit, I found out that it will not work with my printer.

Thanks for the replies guys! :)

There is no network setup for him to do that. He wants to see if there was a easy usb solution to this problem. If all else fails, he can just switch the cable around when he needs to print from either pc.

Nope, not connected at all. It's basically a home pc setup to his cable modem and his work laptop. He simply wants the ability to have a cable there waiting for him to hook it to his work laptop (when he brings it home) to print to. I'm not sure if that can be done with a usb splitter (hub) or not though...
