    I get this.

Then when I press cancel, I get this.

When I press cancel again, the first box pops up.

This is a Windows 2000 computer used as a server.

Make sure the "Print to File" checkbox is NOT checked, and also make sure that a printer is actually installed on the computer.

There are no programs open. Those windows stay on the desktop.

I don't understand what you mean. The windows are always visible? Or do you mean that once they appear, they don't go away until you reboot?

    It's using LPT1.

We changed out the printer but it didnt help. Problem doesnt go away when you reboot and the windows stay on screen at all times.

When I press cancel on the first window, the second one comes up, then it goes back to the first window.

Have you completely removed the print drivers and tried to re-install them?

That is definitely the screen you get when you select print to file...

Is it possible that you could have somehow set print to file as the default setting?

It's asking you for a filename to save the document as and you're not putting one in.

I put a file name in and it does the same thing. All the files save in the system32 folder.

Why are you printing to a file anyway? I'm guessing the reason it won't go away is because it's queuing whatever you're trying to print.

Delete all your print jobs, restart and do it again. You can also uninstall teh printer then reload it after a restart. If it's a USB printer, don't connect the printer until it asks you to.
