    Hey everyone,

I was hoping that some people with stock photography experience could help me out.

My Professor is publishing a textbook and the publisher recently contacted me to ask if I was willing to let them use one or two of my photos for the book. They haven't mentioned anything about money, but I'm not going to let them use my photos for free.

Do any of you know if publishers typically have their own pricing tables based on the publication type, print run, image size, etc.? And should I ask them for that or ask them about the intended use and give them a quote?

Also, I'm not allowed to license an image unless I have model releases for all people within the photo right? (Even if the photo was taken internationally or in public)

    Thanks.

theres a online chart you can follow that you plug in the type of media, estimated production run, length of run, size . . .
this is an estimate, and doesn't mean you'll get it, but its a starting point

they may have their own pricing, and since your new to the game, you'll pretty much want to take what you are offered

and yes, you need model releases, and for them to be compensated, $1, a free drink coupon, a print . . . all count

you may also need property releases
