Im looking to put a scope on my remington 700 BDL in .270...for my purposes, very light recreational shooting, im looking for a good value for money type scope...from what i can tell, burris fullfield II and bushnell elite 4200 scopes would seem to fit this category. Any feedback from you guys? considering the lack of frequent use, I wouldnt want to spend more than 300-400 bucks. Must also have a 1" tube.

Bushnell elite's are good from my reading, Leopold VX-3, Super Sniper 3-9x is supposed to be good, but it's a little more at about $500, I'm pretty happy with my Nikon, the Monarch series would be right in your range.

The problem is that w/ 3-400 bucks, you're right in the transition from the cheaper lines to the middle to good ranges, but you're not quite in either :dunno: someone else w/ a little more knowledge than I could prolly help out

Go with bigman. In that range, the Bushnell 3200/4200 and Nikon Buckmaster or Monarch get rave reviews.

I know the Leupold vx-3 is popular because if you're so inclined, you can send it back and have it fitted with the tactical/target turrets :dunno:

As far as cheap scopes go, I've found Barska to be pretty good, price is in the same range as stuff like Tasco and Simmons, but the quality is alot better.

for just a regular hunting scope, I wouldn't get the mil-dot. Unless you want to learn the ins and outs of the mil-dot reticles.
