I want the pb price to drop now, it should atleast by $100-150.

B4 a similiarly modified ibook vs powerbook was a $75 gap, after the revisions, the ibook has even gotten closer to the powerbook, but the price gap is now $300. That is a jip to the hardworkers of america.

the reason i think this is because there will be a bigger fan base with the higher clock speeds so more demand means more supply which usually means lower prices unless theres a shortage of supply for the demand.

It's a Mac. The prices will always be high. It's not like you will be able to install OS X on just any box. You will still have to buy a Mac to run OS X and whether it's an Intel chip or not, the only prices that will drop will be the old Macs that get phased out much like Apple has always done.

Since Macs will remain as proprietary as ever, I don't expect prices to drop much, if any. Similarly, I don't expect to see their market share blow up in any meaningful way (see: niche market). Intel or not, a Mac will stilll be a Mac, with all the good and the bad that comes with it. Really, not much is changing ..so why should prices?

the only way that the prices of macs would drop if there was another company that sold a simuliar computer with the OS X opperating system.. if there is no competition and the business is stable why would you lower yourself?

Do you really not know anything about business? Lower price but at a higher volume equals higher profits.

Think of it as the Walmart Theory!

well to attract more people, thats why, if they start selling more they can mkae the same money for lower prices and if they keep a lower price more people will buy causing more customers and more money.

that would be great if they were selling loaves of bread. unfortunately, computers require support. support requires personnel. personnel require wages.

if they sell more computers at a lower profit per unit, they will still need more personnel to provide support for all the additional users, but they will be making less money with which to pay those people.
