Pretty sure I've figured out why I've been having trouble eating :wtc:

About the time of my last MS attack I started having trouble eating enough... I thought I had just overdone it with my bulk or something. Now I've come to the conclusion that what really happened is, my attack fucked with my swallow/gag response, and every time I put food in my mouth, I immediately gag on it.

I seem to have the habit of trying to not see when I come up with new symptoms of my MS, you'd think that after a year I'd learn to recognize when something is going on instead of making up some excuse to explain it away and hope it'll go away on it's own.

So I dunno, I may have to go through some sort of therapy to get over this, at this point I'm having to stuff food in my mouth, and gulp it down like you would a mouthful of pills so I don't gag.

    Making bulking quite difficult.

    Sorry to vent :sadwavey:

yeah I was doing those for a few months but got burned out on em, and stopped drinking them when this whole gagging thing started.

I was even gagging on the shakes if they were too thick, and to thin them out enough to drink made them like, a gallon of liquid.

I know, excuses. I am trying to man up, I promise. I've had to skip a few workouts because my body was not recovered from the last workout, don't think I have been able to take enough calories in to repair the damage. :hsugh:

I'm in my second month of Copaxone treatment. There's no cure, only treatments that try to slow the progression of the disease.

You could probably kick my ass w/ your skills and kung fu grip, so I'll accept your excuses. I wish I could give you some advice, but best of luck :(

done and done... and... uh.... done.

it's not a hunger issue, it's that physically putting food in my mouth makes me gag.

I think I'm learning to work around it some now, or at least starting to.

I sorta know how you feel. I gagged most food for like 3 years, although I wasn't even hungry. If you're already hungry thats pretty wierd. Could it be a med side affect?

stuff like this is common enough in MS. it results from damage to the nerves in the CNS that govern the gag reflex / swallow response.
