I'm looking to revamp my build which is about 3 years old now...I'm looking to get a new mobo and processor on a budget. Here are some pics of it in its current state:

The mobo is some Asus something er other that can only fit a P4 3.0ghz processor. I'm not a huge gamer or anything but I'm looking to get some performance figures that are a little more modern for photo/video/music editing and general use. Lots of USB ports etc.

Been looking at this processor...not really sure what mobo to go along with it:

Gotta replace that fan also. Anyone have a good all around mobo for a decent price?

Thats a good chip. For photo/video/music editing you may be better off with a comparibly priced quad-core, Q6600.

What are your current system specs and budget?

I'd just build a new machine from scratch and hook that old one up to your TV or something.

currently its a p4 3.0 ghz chip...lots of hard drives adding up to ~6-700 gb...2 GB ram. what other stats do you wanna know? And my budget would ideally be around 400 dollars on a processor, mobo, and a couple sticks of ram...maybe a PSU if 450W isn't enough these days.

    If thats all your wanting:
    Intel Q6600 - $189.99
    GigaByte EP45-DS3L - $95.99 w/ $15 MIR
    G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2 PC6400 RAM - $44.99
    PC Power & Cooling 500W PSU - $69.99 w/ $20 MIR

So that is all $400.96 minus $35 in mail in rebates = $365.96

Only thing is that the mobo does not have onboard video so you need to get/have a video card. Your PSU should be able to handle everything just fine, so I'd recommend spending that $70 on a new SATA-II drive:
    $80 for a WD 640GB AALS HDD

If you're replacing the CPU, motherboard, and RAM, it's only $100-200 more to replace the case, hard drive, and power supply too. It doesn't have to be a beast.

Interesting. Thanks for the suggestions. Is that quad-core significantly better than the duo?

Because for an extra $100-200 you can have a second fully-functional computer that you can hook up to your TV and watch movies on while surfing the web, or play Counterstrike while all your friends watch, or whatever. And besides, 2 > 1.
