    Combine

    1 cup steel cut oats
    1 cup dried cranberries
    1 cup dried figs
    4 cups water
    1/2 cup half-and-half

In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients and set to low heat. Cover and let cook for 8 to 9 hours. Stir and remove to serving bowls.

What's the deal with steel cut? What's wrong wth regular oats, does it matter how its cut? I know this probably sounds stupid, as I know nothing about these things. :hs:

I am not a big fan of leaving stuff cooking while I am asleep.

True when I started with chicken and then going to work, I was nervous. Then eventually my lack of a memory > my worries.
