Can anyone get press passes for ALMS in Mosport this year?
What ever happened to that OT press pass? I'd like one if someone has one to give out.
its not that easy is it? do you not need to be shooting for a actual press outlet???
I know the CSCS events I have covered ( sport compact drag rcaing ) you just cant jump up and ask for a pass.
I'd like that too ... that would rock if it worked
I found this helpful...
ive got the PSD of the OT press pass..uploading now
Fuck yeah... you rock. Thanks!
The big question is, though, has anyone used it with success?
I'll let you know in Aug
On the back:
"Penny pics may be required to verify the authenticity of certain subject matter. Please do not be alarmed if the wearer of this pass asks you to hold one."
ok great ... that may not work
Pit passes would be awesome ... You already have full access to garages at ALMS with a regular ticket... pits are SEVERELY off limits except for teams and press though.. oh to have pit pass and press pass for pics without 3000 heads in front of you
Haha. Do you really think that is going to get you anywhere?
You'll need to contact the tracks PR/Media relations department and ask them what is required. You'll need to be working for a legitimate press outlet, whether its print, tv or web. You'll need to have the editor of your press outlet send a letter to them with your name, requesting credentials and what your job will be at the event that weekend. The outlet will also likely need to show past coverage of the event or something similar so the track knows its legit.
That homemade pass isnt going to get you anywhere. Number one, you'll need a legit credential just to get through the front gate. After that, you'll need a legit credential to get into the media center which is staffed by track security with a listing of what credentials to allow. You'll need media center access because you'll need a photo vest to get trackside and you get those from the series and fill out a form and show your credential to them. Its not as simple as flashing a press pass to some schmuck that doesnt know what he is looking at and talking your way in.
Go the legit route and see what happens.
ive never used it someone asked for it, and i filled the request.
ive had a press pass to NOPI in Atlanta for the past 2 years, that shit was awesome.
I'm pretty sure that no one would actually use this
Seeings how vwpilot actually gets press passes to the ALMS (and every large racing venue across the US), you might consider it
edit: what vwpilot said....i didn't see that earlier.
Except our editor always sets us the press passes, even to events we don't go to.
i'd like to think the world is perfect, but then you read about that chick who lived at stanford without actually being a student
I'm sorry, maybe it was a joke and I just didnt see it. I just wanted to make sure you knew that would never fly and you would get shot down really quick if you ever tried to use that at any major sporting event.
It might get you past a cop on the street for a news story, but that might be about it.
Try the route I suggested and see what happens.
Its not that people dont get in that shouldnt be there, but its usually done really under the table, as in sneaking in, or its done through legit channels putting up a false working front. Showing up at the front gate with a homemade press pass will just get you turned away.
It works at medium/small events.
I was joking about the OT pass ... I would never try to use it. I went through that link that was posted earlier and now know that I will probably not get one
