Ok, I can afford to spend about 10k on a car, and I've got a trade worth 4k give or take. I want either a 98-99 GSR or a 98-99 Prelude. I plan on light mods only (i/h/e, suspension, rims later). Both are going to be hard to find at the right price and condition, with low miles. Which one would you guys take based on looks, speed and handling? Also please post any opinions you may have about either car.

I'm sure you'll be happy with either one.

Personally i prefer the integra, i just like the feel and ride of it more.

Why dont you just get a 4th gen Nissan Maxima 5spd?
    Will own those two :)

yah both are cool cars, but i prefer the prelude.

    teg: lighter, quicker
prelude: bit more torque, feels more stable at high speeds, nicer interior, lot less preludes than tegs on the streets

my sis has a stock teg and i used to have a 99 prelude with only a susp upgrade to koni/eibach set-up

Well the Prelude is a more rare car....And is a little faster..

The GSR has a "better" parts bin than the H22. But the Acura integra is like the most stolen car in the States! I don't know where you live, but you might want to conciter that as well.

the gsr has LOTS more aftermarket support than the prelude. it's cheaper, not that much slower, quicker with a better driver. so if you want a car that's easy and relatively cheaper to modify, the integra is the better choice. if you're going to be stock, or mildly modified, then the prelude. i think the prelude is the better car overall, though i'm biased coz i own one myself.

have the best of both worlds...drop an H22 into the integra :big grin: it will throw off the handling a little bit tho.

2.2 > 1.8 without question. More potential. Not to mention the Prelude has incredible handling for a fwd car as light as it is.

I owned the 2000 Tiptronic, 2001 Base 5spd and I have to say the Prelude is a nice ride. Only the Type R was faster according to owners of the cars, I never personally raced myself as I was just learning stick at the time.

If you're not going to go heavy mods, i.e turbos, get the Lude, it's a much better ride and with suspension mods it really accentuates the characteristics of the car.

I own a prelude SH with intake and my brother owns a 4door GS-R with i/e and his car was .2 seconds faster in the quarter mile.... BTW were twins. I like my car alot more then his GS-R, considering exterior and interior design.

see. so imagine a 2 door gsr (which of course is lighter than the 4-door) with those mods and it only gets faster

yeah. what else would you compare it to? an Escalade? Other cars in its class is what it competes with so thats what it gets compared to. :slap: If you arent going to compare it to others in its class then why did you say its light? Whare are you comparing it to, a truck?

No, all you "proved" was that a 2 door is lighter than a 4 door.

 that's an intersting way to defend the Integra. But bolts on's are for people who can't afford anything more. Both with built bottom ends and 60-1's and a fuel system, and the lude would spool like a mutherfucker and eat it on top end.

I'm sure "you" can say that's all he'll ever do to the car by his plans now. Just run more boost. I can see you have it all figured out.
