Well, this year is drawing to a close. What do you think Apple's next move will be when they inevitably upgrade their whole product line? Here's what I think will happen:

    -Emacs will be phased out
-G4 procs will be phased out
-Mac Minis will get G5 procs
-iMacs will get Intel dual cores
-Power Mac towers will get good speed increases (maybe 500 mhz+ each)
-iPod nanos will double in capacity (5 and 10 gigs)
-iPod viedos will be upped to 40 & 80 gig models

    OSXI
-Native windows app support OR will have a super-efficient version of WINE
-iTunes will have support for HE-AAC radio streams and encoding

    So what do you think???

I think they'll keep with the OS X name for a few more years.

    done-Emacs will be phased out
all macs are going to intel-G4 procs will be phased out
why when intels run cooler with dual core-Mac Minis will get G5 procs
i would appreciate seeing this-iMacs will get Intel dual cores
most likely to happen if they change chips, but i wouldn't expect to see that until 2007-Power Mac towers will get good speed increases (maybe 500 mhz+ each)
doubling would be 4 and 8 gigs-iPod nanos will double in capacity (5 and 10 gigs)
if sales ever slow down-iPod viedos will be upped to 40 & 80 gig models

some incredibly obvious predictions...ppc based processors getting phased out w/a guaranteed-by-apple roadmap to all intel

the windows app support stuff is nonsense. there's more at play than just sticking in an intel processor to make something like that work. how would it benefit apple to basically make themselves invisible (that is, use standard PC hardware and support other PC software....)?

By supporting and becoming compatible ith pc software wouldn't apple computers also become vulnerable to viruses/adware/spyware that plagues pc's? Personally, it's not something to relaly look forward to in my opinion. There's nothing on PC I really want.

The reason WinTel systems are so exposed to malware is not the hardware (i.e. the part that Apple is moving toward), but rather the OS, which Apple is not adopting. If you had a version of Windows that ran on PPC hardware it would be just as exposed to malware as a WinTel variant.

Wow. You're like the second coming or Nostradamous, except you're just saying exactly what Steve Jobs has already said - Apple is moving to Intel processors. :eek3:

Yes, despite what hardware the computers are using, if a mac is capable of running windows software natively, then it will also be capapble of running the junk that comes along with windows.

It really depends...I would expect that alot of spyware/adware depends on very specific areas of the Windows OS. (in order to be launched at start and stuff)

So if the Mac solution to run windows software natively includes those areas that spyware/adware depends on this means the spyware/adware will affect the Mac...otherwise it won't.

It isn't as clean cut as "if a mac is capable of running windows software natively, then it will also be capapble of running the junk that comes along with windows."

I dont know if i should build a PC and keep my G3 laptop as a daily browser/ for traveling, and use the PC as a gaming only computer, or if i should wait and see what comes to the mac mini line, or if i should wait and see what comes to the iBook/Powerbook line.

if you don't understand what you're talking about (which you clearly don't), just don't talk about it like you do.

    They stopped making e-macs already
The minis will be released as macintels in Jan with FrontRow 2, "TiVo-Killer" DVR application, move to 3.5" hard drive and a built in iPod dock (ie. ready to roll media centers)
New iBooks will come in Jan as well as a MacIntel
Entire line up will be macintel before the end of the year short of the PowerMacs which will all be quads maxing out at 2.7 GHz, (Even tho the XBOX 360 is running triple core PowerPC 3.2 chips).
New Shuffles - As small as two sticks of gum and available in colors.

I don't know what else is coming at this point.

Please elaborate....what parts of my statement make me sound as though I don't know what I am talking about?

You do have me though...I have never developed a piece of spyware/adware.
