Do you pre-wash your BDUs before you put the name tags on them? I have a set of BDUs that have never seen starch. A guy I work with says that the starch shows up like little Christmas lights through NV or IFR, I forget which one, prolly NV. I haven't confirmed this. Plus I hate starch. I used to get my junk dry cleaned. That got expensive and since I am a tight wad, I decided to warsh them myself. Except for my blues pants which still see the asian ladies.
I got new BDUs and I have pre-warsh'd them several times. They look naked. Like they are from basic training; No rank, no patches, no badge, nothing, naked. I also got new boots. I figured four years in the same boots is long enough. New boots suck compared to the ones that are nice and broken in. They don't shine as well either. I figure I'll buy all this new crap and then the AF will switch to digi-mon stuff. If they do I hope they go with the pigskin boots. Those would be nice not having to polish them. Black boots look like crap if they aren't polished, especially if you are a desk jockey. I want to fly helicopters.

I cleaned em in boot camp and SOI. I'm reserves, so they never get dirty. I'll clean them once we deploy.
