Alright, I got a backstage pass to the airshow, however I wont be able to acutally go. So I went a couple days earlier to get shots of what I could. Ive got a D40 with the stock (18-55mm) lens kit on it. I dont have enough zoom to get the planes in the air so I got some pix while they were on the ground. What am I doing right/wrong?

Ive been lurking in here for a while and wanted to see what I can do. Im goin to Washington DC and NYC the end of April and wanna practice shooting before I go.

    And now for the pix:

overall seem to be good. Warthog shots seem to be about 2/3 underexposed... Pick up a polarizing filter to help with the Sky and couds... but they look good and if possible a long lens for the next show for air shots... 70-300VR is good for a fairly inexpensive lens. Watch your horizons (level). Overall some nice shots there.

i actually had a polarizing filter on the lense, however im still learning how to use it. I kinda just slapped it on there, and completly forgot about it. Ill have to fix those Pelfs.

And I just noticed I spelt View wrong in the thread title

4 would be better if you were closer and had more of a portrait style shot with a blurred background and the focus on his facial expression and hands.

i like 1,9,15 the best. I think 17 could have been better if the tail and wing werent cut off and maybe if it was more too the rear so you could see more of the other planes down the line like you did with the one above
