No, i don't ... i wouldn't want it done to me so i don't do it to others.

It's like working in a clothing store and peeking into the women's dressing room.

err...no, unless that is there specific problem. usually when i get a computer it doesn't turn on or it has fried hardware. say maybe they have lost rights to a whole batch of work files or something and they want me to fix it...then yah i have to open the files and check to make sure they work after i fix them. but that hardly ever happens...as i am local in my home and not an actual computer shop employee or anything.

i backup any important data i have on the server. so if for soem reason i got shot in the head and lost my brain (meaning i would NEVER take my computer to a computer shop to get fixed no mattter what), and i couldn't fix my computer...i'd wipe my drive and THEN let them work on it. I never trust anyone with bank onfo or anything like that sitting on my HDD. if i can't fix my computer or someone elses (hasn't happened yet) i'd let my father look at it or some of my friends. if THEY can't fix it i'd rather buy a new computer/hardware then give it to some "tech guy" at BestBuy who charges like $100 an hour to tell me "buy a new mobo/CPU/RAM and you'll be good to go." they always do that when they cant fix it.

No... that would make you an asshole. It'd be like going to a clients' house and asking for their tax records and photo albums.

As someone else said... if a client presents a problem (as one of mine did) that NO Office files (excel, word, etc) would open... then once I determine the problem and fix it, I open a file of each type to see that it is in working order, but even then I do read their stuff.

No but it is funny when you accidenly run across "tiny asian chick take 18 inch black cock in the ass.mpg" when you're sitting there with the customer looking for stuff to backup or move to a new PC.

I don't... I just do whatever needs to be done and get on a new computer. When you are working on 5 computers at a time.. there isn't time to look at people crap.

My cousin works at Best Buy, and he says they accidentally run into things, since people have a bad habit of leaving 'damaging personal video' on cd's in their burners, or have strange videos on the desktop.

Some people must obviously be snooping around because you occasionally hear of people being busted for kiddie porn. Just a couple weeks ago some guy here was busted for that when he took his comp in to be fixed.

I worked at a store and we busted someone for kiddie porn. I was opening a program from the start menu and went past recent doc's and saw titles to some sick stuff. I just stopped right there and had my boss call the police carelessness is a good reason to goto jail i guess
