So I'm going to be getting trained by a powerlifting trainer/coach(had my first session today) and I'm considering entering a competition in March for shit and giggles. My coach said that I really should and I'm kinda pumped just thinking about it. I just was hoping to hear what everyone's first meet was like for them. Was it what you expected? Anyone wanna offer some advice?

if your using any gear get used to it well before meet. bring friends to help you get it on too.

LISTEN to the refs, the will make calls on when to rack and press. watch for the signle to squat.

dont get corn startch on your hands when you deadlift.

start working on more singles and work on your pause

Good stuff Grouch. As for using gear do you think its worth buying stuff now or waiting till later on? My trainer said he might have some stuff in my size that I could use but I was considering just biting the bullet and buying my own stuff.
