all subs are "powered"... it's simply a matter of whether the amp/enclosure/sub are all one unit, or not.

yes it is... I had to provide my own enclosure and amp... ALL subs require an amp.

you powered the sub by adding an amp, a powered sub includes an amp, like an infiniti basslink

Are you just being a hardass, or do you really not know what someone is referring to when they say "powered subwoofer"? Or, did you actually think the thread poster believes there is such thing as a subwoofer that doesn't require power to work?

I'm curious if the thread starter wants a powered subwoofer for home or car.

    The former of course.

sorry guys, I meant for home audio. I want to add a subwoofer to my 150 watt sharp stereo system. For home audio there is a passive or a powered subwoofer, my home stereo needs a "powered" one.

He probably means there is hum whenever it is turned on. Often caused by ground loop problems.

Nevermind guys, I just bought 3 subs off of ebay, and I'm going to see which one is best. But i'm thinking this[IMG] onkyo (150 watts for 70$) will be best.

That's the Onkyo sub that comes in the Onkyo HTB set that everyone raves about for the price. I'm sure it will work well for whatever setup you are doing
