someone told me today that they were just expensive candybars... i thought that, although they have near the same amount of calories, they were a little more healthy than candy...

    what do you guys think?

I always eat a snickers bar between races. Meaning that aside from very unscientific tests, I have no basis for saying this, but I've noticed no difference between preformance eating a snickers vs eating a powerbar.

while there are better choices, i eat the "harvest whole grain" ones occasionally, the PB ones have 5g of fiber and 10g of protein....not a huge amount of protein but better than nothing and seem to be available more places than most actual protein bars (ie the 711 by my work).

i occasionally eat them as a meal replacement since i am cutting (around 240 calories), i wish they had more protein tho

the "normal" powerbars taste like shit to me, i've only tried them a few times and could barely finish them, wasn't all that impressed with the nutritional value.

for a protein bar, i like the sugar free detour protein plus bars, 30g of protein and taste pretty decent. think they cost $3 at 711.

my mom got me the combo pack from costco. not bad tasting. haven't tried the vanilla ( i hate vanilla) but the PB and chocolate are decent. the promax line of bars are pretty fuckin good. havent had a flavor yet that i didn't like. other than nutritional aspects, i just have them as snacks throughout the day, insurance that i get above maintenance calories. small and calorically dense.

I like Pure Protein bars. They have 32 grams of protein. I dont buy it alot. Just use it when I dont have time to make a protein shake and need some extra protein. Really convenient

Same deal as any other food: if you like it and you work the macros into your overall daily allowance, what the fuck ever.
