Power Supply Requirements

    Anyone have a good rule of thumb when deciding what kind and what rating the power supply should be - without actually breaking down the power consumption of each device ;)

    depends on what you are using it for and what your uptime requirements are...we are on a generator so i dont care about voltage..just redundancy...that way if one power supply fails..you have a backup and if u have a maintenance contract you can get a new power supply next day..all without having to go down

    Hmm - well reliability is a requirement, but I can swap out PS at will - I just want something that will run ~5 SCSI drives fulltime with no worries
