ever since installing leopard and updating to 10.5.2 right away after i've been having some power management issues. my macbook won't sleep on it's own after the certain time period but will when the lid is closed. sometimes while attempting to reboot the screen goes black and the light goes on like screen is sleeping, but is completely unresponsive.

I've tried rebooting the PRAM as well as resetting the SMC, and neither of these worked. any ideas?

yep. i think it may have more to to with the erase and install of leopard rather than the update to 10.5.2.
