My ab routine was becoming it a bit too old and I got too good at it, so I tried an ab workout I saw in More Magazine. It consists of side bridges, leg levers, reverse curls, plank extensions, roll outs, leg lifts, plank rotations, and twists. It is so important to keep variety in your workouts. Otherwise, I think your muscles become too "smart".
Thats exactly what I need!
I did volume work this summer (due to lack of gym facilities, long story), and it was actually a great change from the weight work I'd been doing previous (5x5 and 6x3). I was stuck in the high weight, low rep rut for awhile too. Switched to 4x15 for a while and pulled me out of a small plateau I had hit.
