I can't contribute since I just picked up skiing last week, but I really need a decent jacket. My current one is a POS and is not cutting it. I'm mostly interested in something that performs well, but style still wins points :mamoru:

I tried on a 686 at the ski slope, but the girl working there said it's mostly for snowboarders. Is there really much of a difference as far as function goes?

I have a few nice shells, but they just don't cut it on the slopes. All it took was one fall (and about 5 dozen more) to get my jacket packed with snow. There are lots of nifty features on some of them, like a powder skirt that will stop the snow.

I will say this, snowboarders look a hell of a lot cooler than us ski dorks :hs:

Price isn't an issue. Of course, I'm not paying $700 for a jacket just because the manufacturer wants to make more money.

    That backcountry one looks nice.
I've noticed a lot of ski jackets seem to look like mountaineering jackets, but the snowboarding ones tend to be more baggy and with a lot more cool features.

Never was released in Blue/Red Zips, yet it was used by our athletes in every ski video this past winter. My brother's room mate has the only one in existence...I wonder why. :hsugh:

It will come out in a slightly different blue with white zips next winter:

Truthfully there is even more of a grey area with steezy new 'snowboarding & skiing' lines coming out. There are brands that started with snowboarding and most skiers dont buy them but then again there are also ski brands with awesome fits and colors out finally. What are you looking for, insulated, shell, give me the run down...

My closet is overflowing at this point so I'll toss up a few of mine...

What I've used mostly this season:

Really don't have a ton of shots from this season due to shitty snow, but should have some more after Utah next week, here's one of the Sifton:

Hasn't been cold enough but it'll actually get used skiing in Utah next week:

Probably won't ever ride in this jacket, just because I like a slightly looser riding fit:

Gomer, I really want something like the 686 Smarty jackets with the light zip in liner. So, something I can zip something into would be nice. I also liked all the little details, like zipper pulls, pockets, goggle pocket, ipod pocket, lift pass window, etc.

I'm looking at the orage stuff now. Looks like it's exactly what I want. I just need to find a dealer for them.

Last weekend was my first time skiing ever and it was tons of fun, but damn the snow sucks ass. It's either too little snow or way too much. Too hot too.

I think one of the ones I liked may have been called portland or oregon haha, I don't remember. There were a couple jackets I liked but I can't find where you posted them last time, but I'll look again.
