I've been training with Kettlebells for 2 months now and I'm looking to change it up a bit. Most of my routine is taken from martial arts perspective with alot of cardio intensive work. I figured F&N is where I should look for a more power intensive routine. I'm currently using a 35lb Kb. The highest available at my gym is 44lb, but there is only a single. I can double up 35lb and lower. None of my current routines use double Kb's. Here is what I'm currently doing.

    Routine 1 Wednesday night
    Routine 2 Saturday morning

We do it as a conditioning routine with about 10-16 people per class. Hard to do traditional lifting with that many people at the same time.

I have a buddy that trains with them for MMA. Man, I didn't realize how much heavier and difficult dead weight is to lift.

Abit off topic but would a plane allow me to bring a kettlebell on board? Or best to bring it in a bowling ball bag or something and check it in?
Considering bringing one when I go to France in august to workout with and giving it to my gf's brother.

i about broke my neck walking the streets of florence, so man hot chicks i was just dying.

Dead weight, as in uneven and not as balanced such as a barbell or dumbell.

Depending on when ya go, there's the running of the Bull's in Pamplona (northern spain) in July and the world's biggest tomato fight in mid-august in Bunol (southern spain) :bigthumb:

Kettlebells are "better" for MMA fighters because they promote much better stamina as well as explosive power. You won't look like a body builder, but the muscle you DO have will be extremely dense and efficient. Like I said, IMO they are for someone who wants to be a fast, explosive overall fighter as oppose to say a boxer with a mean knock out punch. MMA fighters need to have insane stamina to compete profesionally and kettlebells do that. Too fucking expensive though lol. My buddy made his own ghetto ones out of free weights and home depot piping

that sounds a lot like the low weight high reps means leaner muscle argument...

probably not the best example because a boxer wants that monster punch to be explosive because the faster it gets to its target, the less chance his opponent has to react and the more explosive it is, the more force thats imparted to it, which would then be transferred once it hits its target.

I have a crazy uncle that is an anesthesiologist in Mississippi and he is a kettle bell fanatic and he has a couple in his office and they are his lil stress reliever, he'll bust him out and do some stuff with him in his office.

That's crazy, I could never work out in my office. I sweat from working out so much I'm usually swimming by the time I'm done.

I wouldnt categorize them at that level.
Kettlebells are not unlike any other equipment that could be available to you. Every exercise, equipment and movement has its own positives and negatives associated with it.

Bottom line, if they are available to you, you can benefit from them. As even bodybuilders progress, they should always maintain a balance of all available benefits.

We dont categorize inclines, dbs or flatbars to any specific sport, we would be kidding ourselves if we think kettlebells are better for MMA as opposed to any other exercise movement as well.

Myself, they are great for promoting flexibility that is generally no tasked during regular core movements.

On Wednesday I do an hour of BJJ after 30-45 min of Kb's.
On Saturday I do an hour of Savate then another hour of BJJ after a full hour of Kb's.

I want to start doing more double bell and power work, but I don't think we have enough bells yet at my gym.
