meh. I was disappointed. There was like 30 minutes of filler at the beginning, and there were hardly any torture scenes. The best part was the last 20 minutes or so. And I don't think that was Tarantino in the car.

MUCH better then Wolf Creek. Definitely a movie worth seeing. The first 30 minutes were boring...except for the nude scenes. There were a few torture scenes, towards the end of the movie it had the whole audience laughing and clapping. It seemed as if the whole audience loved it. Even my girlfriend that didnt watch the nasty gorey parts said that she found the movie pretty good.

Yeah. When I watched it the audience was clapping toward the end. Thing I liked about it was how the "good guy" didn't take pitty on the "bad guys" when he ran then over and the bathroom scene. I so wish that would happen more often in movies. Movie was much better than I expected it to be. Some of the torture scenes were actually pretty fucked up just because of the situation of why they were happening.

    My .02 cents

just saw it. i personally thought it was a really shitty movie. the acting could not be taken seriously and the storyline was just really dumb. i can't even say this movie has potential because the basis of the movie (storyline) was just so stupid. bah. $9.50!!! fuck that.

I just saw it tonight and really liked it. If you like Eli Roth/Cabin Fever you will probably like this movie. The story was actually interesting to me, thought the torture scenes were well done, they didn't show too much but just enough. I expected a lot less from this movie and enjoyed watching it.

By the way, I think Eli Roth is a good director, can anyone else recomend any other films by him???

Although I enjoyed it, the movie didn't really live up to the hype. The supposedly goriest scene (eye) was available for download before the movie was released. I wish they would've made a more "fucked-up" ending to match the theme of the movie, instead of the main character getting even with everyone else. They also could've given Takashi Miike a bigger role.

Overall, it was pretty decent, a lot of gore, but not so much horror.

BTW, the previews were pretty interesting, here's my take:

When A Stranger Calls (will probably suck)

See No Evil (will suck, because it's by WWE)

Pulse (looks interesting, but it has a bunch of young actors so the acting will probably suck ass)

The Hills Have Eyes (looks good, mix of Texas Chainsaw and House of 1000 corpses)

Hard Candy (looks really interesting, and pretty good, I have no clue what this movie is about except that it involves a pedophile. It has a couple of pretty talented, but not so well known actors, the girl is gonna be Kitty Pride in XMEN 3)

I loved it. The movie didn't seem to me like it was made to be scary or make you jump. It is just supposed to freak you out. It is a really fucked up situation that actually isnt THAT far fetched. I think he should have gotton more creative with the torture scenes, but it was still a godo movie.

I would've rather watched Faces of Death.

Honestly, to me it was euro trip (which i hated for the most part) without the humor or plot and with the characters getting owned.

I think they tried to make it intelligent and failed. The "Elite Hunting" fell flat since there was less hunt more "lets just prey and horny teenagers that fumble into a trap". The acting was horrendous and i couldn't empathize with the characters at all. all the filler of tits, ass and sex was pointless and they could've used the time to actualy build up the tension of the "hunt".

I give it a D only because they did a good job of making realistic gore and i actually laughed my ass off at the Chainsaw scene.

For me to say it was not entertaining is a big deal because it is rare that even a bad movie is not entertaining to me.

I won't recomemnd it to ANYONE!

^^^You are crazy. This is the best horror movie I have seen in a long time and possibly the best I have ever seen. It was realistic and the craziest thing about it is that this stuff is probably happening somewhere in the world.

I thought the acting was good, directing was good, the editing of the scenes was on point. It kept my interest the entire time.

I usually despise horror movies because of how predictable and stupid they are. They are next to porn when it comes to bad movies but this movie was great.

    I recommend it to anyone.

What was so stupid about the storyline? It was excellent. It is the only realistic horror movie I have ever seen. Most are about some supernatural entity or some unkillable villian like Jason or Freddy. This is something that has and probably is still happening somewhere in the world today and that is what makes this so great.

I loved the idea behind the movie. Obviously you can't judge it based on plot quality too much, but the movie could have been a helluvalot better.
I felt it was touted as this sick torture flick. Hardly. The worst/best part was the eye. To which I said, "I'm glad they finally showed something". Yes, there is a skill in having the audience feel the pain without seeing it. In Psycho, you never see her stabbed in the shower. In Old boy, you never see the scissors go through his tounge. But in Old Boy, you see the resistance encountered when closing the scissors. And seriously, Hostel wasn't the type of movie which would rely on style to get a point across. It should have been a sick torture flick.
I wish we saw more rooms for a bit longer.
I thought the acting was acceptable.
I hated how everything was explained to you to fucking completely. The bit about the hookers and paying to go into a room to do what you want... don't fucking say that. You don't need to. I felt like I was treated as an idiot so that I could catch the "subtlties".
I didn't exactly like having Pulp Fiction in the background, because when you see it you go, "oh! Pulp Fiction! Quentin Tarrentino! Haha, that's funny" and you subsequently leave the world the movie creates.
I also didn't like how everything was happening at the end. It seemed... silly.
I also didn't like that it got you to cheer for the final guy and to root against the bad guys. It turned into like, an action movie. Fuck that. I wanted to leave feeling creeped out, not happy.

Inside humour? Erm... I don't follow your use of the term because the movie kinda... forces you to understand it.
Tarantino produced the movie. He didn't write, or direct it. I for one, did not see him.

He is in all the movies he directs but he has had his hands in a lot of movies that he doesnt appear in. He was only the producer of this movie.

I was sort of like WTF up until the end. When it all unfolded during that discussion with the guy in the dressing room I suddenly got really interested. It could've been better by developing that portion of the story more, but it got delivered so quickly that the shock factor was there. There are few movies that I go online and search for discussions about, this is one of them, and for me that means it was GOOD. Again, it was only good because it was twisted and it took me from very disappointed to WOW'd in a matter of seconds. I wish I could watch it again and not know the outcome. It still could've been better, but I put this up there with Saw1 as the best gore/twisted flicks I've seen.

I recommend you guys see it.

It wasn't bad... SAW1 had more plot development though. Gore Factor: A+.
