Have you guys made any home made flash modifiers (Snoots, diffusers, grids, etc...) What were your methods? I think I may want to try making a grid with some straws, would also like to attempt a diffuser as well!

*snirk* I made a mini softbox thing for my on camera flash out of a lightbulb box. It works awesome.

Edit: Pics (quickly taken with my p&s so I don't even want to hear it.)

I made a black straw grid, it works well. I went really narrow with a focused beam:

Just like this tutorial shows, but I made mine taper down to a small opening. I ordered a box of thick wall black restaurant straws off amazon for like $5.

Bowl was a plastic serving bowl I found at a party supply store. I painted the outside black and the inside white.

The tupperware bowl in the center I stole from my wife.

The flash holder thing is a gutter downspout connector I got at Home Depot. Sheet metal screws hold it to the plastic bowl.

Velcro to hold the flash. Foam tape to line the inside of the downspout to make a snug fit.

I put a piece of silver reflective tape in the middle of the tupperware dish to redirect the light thru the sides of the tupperware.

I understand the box, but what's up with the candian pennies? :mamoru:

Trying to beauty dish though, it's the only one that doesn't look too ghetto-rigged. :o

 It kept falling off at first, so I taped the pennies to the back to help weigh it down. I only use it at home, so it's ok if it looks silly. :p

Oh, it's for the built-in flash! Picture of it on the camera?

Maybe add some velcro strips on the box and strap around the backend of the pop up flash?

I still need to learn how to use it, and I also think the dish I used is a little too deep.
