So I started my job last week and there were a few Macs in there already. I found two old school beige 19" CRT Apple monitors, a 17" CRT Apple Monitor, a Beige PowerMac, 3 oversized 90's scanners and currently in use is a PowerMac G4 1.0 GHz single mated to a first gen 20" ACD. One of the 19 CRTs is set up as a second monitor which is okay at best after looking at a nice 20 display all day.

The best part comes next... they are ordering me a MacBook Pro 2.1 w 7200 rpm drive, 500G external, bag, another G of RAM, thumbdrive, CS2, Office 2004 (They were still on 2001 for OS9 :eek3: ) and a long list of other goodies. This notebook will be good enough to replace the desktop, but they are also talking about upgrading my desktop as well. :eek3:

Anyways, pics of the Macs. I put the shit I'm not using under one of the desks.

I am so insanely jealous dude - not because of the Macs, but because of your new gig. :bigthumb:

I'll snap a pic tonight if I can peel my g/f from WoW. She's commendered my Mac.

Anyone have a mobo that's at least 300mhz I can pop in a B&W G3? I have a box my boss gave me and the board is bad.

Job: Sole Graphic Design Artist for a MLB team.
How: My GF works for the team store in York, and saw the opening listed. I sent her my resume, coverletter, portfolio and link to my online portfolio (www.artofbo.com). I spent a month and a half interviewing. They wanted an in-house GDA that could basically do it all. That's me. I can pretty much do just about anything creative wise, can lead and be led, know how to deal with vendors, multiple projects at the same time, how to deal with everyone one from CEOs to Secretaries and how to prioritize, how to adapt my style for the occasion and image of a major professional organization and most of all, I can usually get it right the first time and never miss a deadline.

I've been doing this for a while now and really know what I'm doing. I'm good at what I do, so it was a good fit. Being that I have so many responsibilities, I also need top of the line equipment to perform at the top of my game. This is baseball, so they understand this and even more so understand how important creating a great image is. Since I am the sole GDA, there are going to be times when I want vacation and work will need a file, project or something done really quick. That's where the laptop comes in.

I'm sure any pro GDA on OT can relate as this is pretty much the same at most Design Firms and Big companies that invest in one or few GDAs to create their company image.

I don't get it. Honestly, how often does that team need images to be designed? :hsugh: I can't even think of anything besides the team logo, which could have been done by some 3rd party design firm. Explain.

Just in the last week: Magnet schedule, Pins, 3 ads, stadium seating layout, duggout sponsor layout, pocket schedules and right now I'm working on the Magazine Cover and layout for 108 pages of the zine. That is just a taste of the stuff there is for me to do here. Basically, anything you see with our logo on it other then licensed player apparel from companies like New Era and Majestic, I have my hands on it.

not really I didn't take that picture for OT, I usually empty my pockets when I am sitting and I do not carry my cash in my wallet as I have to much shit in it to afford the thickness on my ass cheak.

As per all the tech, the sad thing is I am actually a frat guy living in a shitty frat house, by the time girls see the room and realise I am a closet geek/software developer it is to late :-D

Any chance you'd want to sell on of those 19inch CRTs thats not in use? I'll pay shipping and a little extra for you :x: .

As long as it works I'd take it. Don't really care if the quality is crummy.

But damn nice find on the job and everything. That is SICK and I am so jelous (sp?).

If you want, you could convince them that you need 2 30inch apple monitors and a keyboard, mouse and iCurve for that MacBook Pro ;) .
