I started lifting about a week and half ago and for the time being, I'm not doing protein shakes - mainly because I'm eating enough food to hit ~3k cals everyday.

After lifting, what are some protein and carb meals that will work quickly to restore my muscles?

From what I read, tuna doesn't work "quickly" enough. Is that bullshit?

Yeah, it pretty much makes 0 difference.

Protein shakes post workout are the easiest, most effective thing though. $ per gram, they're also typically the cheapest.

unless you lift first thing in the morning on an empty stomach it really doesn't matter.

Well post workout is always whey protein and gatorade. Pre workout is always oats, eggs, a sugar free energy drink and NO shotgun. Probably overkill on the energy supplements but I really gets me pumped.

I ended up going with 2 cans of tuna, a sweet potato and a cup of liquid costco egg whites.

I may only be benching ~80 lbs, but I feel like fucking Rocky when I drink the egg stuff.

I usually do 2 scoops of MHP DARK MATTER (waxy + protein combo and some other good shit) immediately post workout, 45 mins to an hour later I'll have chicken and rice or a sweet potato, + veggies. if im in a rush to head back to work immediately PWO ill have 2 scoops whey, 2 cups egg whites (~6) and oatmeal in a shake.
