i was wondering if it hurts to eat high calorie food without much, if any, nutritional benfit, such as cheesecake from the cheesecake factory at 500 cal/slice.

assuming i am going to eat it sometime throughout the day, is it bad to eat fatty foods after a workout? i eat a proper meal about 45 min later when i get home.
will this help me gain? or should i stick to healthier foods after my workout?

i am workout out to gain weight fyi.

protein and simple carbs are what you want after a workout

are you talking about doing this after a workout consistently or just a time or two?

in an optimal situation you want to keep you pre and post-workout meals to carbs and protein, yes.

but we are not talking about optimal here, we are talking about a guy that wants to eat cheesecake. In this case, post-workout is the time when these calories are least likely to be stored as fat.

what is this? a disagreement? who's right?

it seems like it would be better post workout since i'd be burning more calories at that time, maybe?

btw i am not in any way recommending post-workout cheesecake  but like you said, assuming you are going to be eating it anyway during the day, you might as well place it near your training.

Agreed.. Everything I've read goes with what Chris said..

I had a scoop of ice cream and a chocolate chip cookie tonight after my PWO meal... mmmmmm. Last time ever. Not only do I feel guilty, but it brought me over the max cals for the day :(

right. have your protein shake immediately after the gym, and if you're gonna cheat, do so about an hour or so after your workout.
