Guys post what you want, girls post what you want. We can read each others' lists and hopefully come up with a few ideas of things to buy for our SOs. I think finding the right gift can be really hard so maybe this will help a bit.

For me off the top of my head:

    Dress Shirts
    Ties
    Computer Chair
    Stuff for my aquatic turtles
    High thread count sheets
    Floor Lamp
    Cast Iron Grill
    Xbox Controller charging kit

No idea what I'm getting my GF for xmas/her birthday yet. She loves clothes/shoes/purses but I don't have great taste in women's clothing so the closest I'll get to any of that is a jacket I know she wants. I'm thinking about taking her out to a play for her birthday (mid december) and then an actual gift for xmas. Not sure yet though.

This is a lame Christmas for me in terms of gifts :sad2: I literally cant think of one thing I want :hs: SO and I agreed to save money and not buy each other presents. Just talked to mom about it as well and she said maybe it would be fun for this year to do a sort of Secret Santa just between our close family so everyone still gets a present, but we all didn't have to spend much money.

All my savings are for the wedding at this point.

I just want some snowboard boots and an external hard drive. Anything else is just gravy, really.

I'd much rather do that but both of our birthdays and christmas are in december so I think we'll end up exchanging a few gifts. A lot of stuff that I want is way too expensive for me to ever expect anyone to buy (car shit) for me. She always says she doesn't care what I get for her which I partially believe to be true but I also know she'd be upset if I didn't try. She wants to see the Nutcracker but it isn't playing in our area.

Beer, last year my immediate family did secret santa and it was awesome- it was the usual spend at least $30, buy at least 3 things but everyone got everything they wanted cause it's 2458704950109345x easier to buy for one person than seven.

As for Nate and I we rarely get each other anything for Christmas and if we do it's always small. (like $20 or less) We like to save all our money for our anniversary. :dunno:

    nice dress shirts, polo shirts
    jeans
bicycle access. or just a gift card to a LBS
maybe a new xbox 360 game
    *new computer/office/lounge chair - needed*
    roof rack for my BMW

Cant really think of anything else, I really dont need anything, but it is the thought that counts, not the actual gift.

My gf's family and I did that secret santa thing last year, and we did a budget for the gifts, nothing over $30 or $40 i think. It turned out to be ok.

I have a question.... Now we exchanged gifts last year, but didn't give wishlists or anything of the sort... .

Do you guys usually discuss with your SO's price limits or what?

:mamoru: my birthday is the day after Christmas and his soon after in January, so I feel your pain! I honestly have been out looking when I get SS gifts and get upset that I can't even find one little thing that I know he'd like :sad2:

:eek3: thanks for that! Now I'm excited to tell my mom. She's who I get my obsessive "I LOVE CHRISTMAS AND BUYING PEOPLE PRESENTS" attitude, so I could just tell she was bummed to be told "nah, don't get me a present"

    Yes.

IIRC, they are a little less costly than the Kindle (but still pricey).

No, Kindles don't use ePub format, so I'd have to convert any free ebooks I downloaded and convert them to Amazon's proprietary format :/

If anyone wants to talk about eReaders with me, I'd be happy to help. I'm doing my masters thesis on the shift towards intangible goods :hs:

    Really?? :eek3:

So Kindles are the least practical choice of the three??

Ok, why get an ebook reader when for even less you could get a Netbook that will display unmodified .pdf files IN COLOR as well as do other stuff that ebook readers don't do?

Netbook is too bulky and awkward to "read" as a book... :dunno: :hs:

I've read book on my netbook and didn't care for it. I've also read 'em on my iphone and cared even less.

I think, generally, the idea of being able to store thousands of books on one, small piece of electronics (that is new!) that has a good battery life/doesn't need to be plugged in is very attractive and enticing to people. At least that's the best rationalization I can give for myself.
