Post-running snack

    Protein shake after a workout, what's good after a run?

    That's the problem, I run around 5-6 and I usually don't eat my next meal until 8ish. I figured I should renourish between that time.

    I eat at the school dining hall, the lines are fucking ridiculous at the 630-730 hour. I've honestly waited ~30 minutes in line just for a piece of chicken.

    marathon runners train for endurance only, and don't give a shit about muscle retention. It is hardly the same as doing cardio for fat loss.

    I'm with SteveO here... regular meal is fine. If you can't do that, I would say a 1:1 carb/protein drink (30g/30g or so) should be adequate. There is no need to take in a ton of sugar after cardio, that's just more useless calories you have to account for when dieting.

    edit: This is assuming you are doing moderate cardio for fat loss, while trying to retain as much muscle as possible.
