Cool, AR, but I don't know if I like the A1 foregrips and the CAR stock. Bayonets always look cool fixed, though.

Hey i was looking at buying a RI 1911 but after asking around a bit i was told that in the Phillipines (sp?) they use a softer metal and that they were junk. What's your .02?

Don's guiderod and #22 spring are a big improvement for me in my .40
recoil is noticibly lower plus I rather have a standard spring/rod instead of a captive system with more moving parts than necessary. (plus I carry 1911 springs in my kit so I can swap out in seconds if I need to)

i guess i didnt really pay attention to the recoil..plus it had been a few weeks since i had shot it with the stock rod/spring. The only thing i did notice was my grouping was a bit better...like double or triple taps....i was keeping them all within 1" of each other at 20 yards

Sounds like they don't know what they're talking about. Yes, the RIA's are made in the Phillipines with Cast frames, but that isn't a bad thing. The metal of RIA's are very strong, and someone even put them in similar classes as Norinco frames for hardness. check out www.1911forum.com under "other 1911's" there's lots of RIA info there.
