Buddy of mine calls me today and tells me him and a few of his friends are going to TWS on that monday for a track day. This would give me a good chance to work on my panning shots. Taking the D300 and the 70-200VR out there... What are some recommended settings I should use?

shutter priority, ~1/40th works pretty well.

    shoot it on manual.

if you shoot on shutter priority, depending on the color of the vehicle you're shooting (white or black) it'll keep changing the exposure and they will look wack.

find the correct exposure on M and leave it.

and the shutterspeed will vary depending on the speed of the vehicles and the angle you're shooting them at.

Shutter priority at 1/200 or so. This was at 1/500th:

Car's wont be traveling as fast, plus its more to get in focus. The longer you can with a larger object, the more ground it covers and the more rotation you'll get.

We never had a Houston OTAP while i was in town. :-(
