Im about to upgrade to an LCD tv and I was thinking about running the cables up into the ceiling and into a near by closet. My question is, how do the remotes work if nothing is in sight of it? Is there a special receiver for the remote?

This might not make sense but I'll see if I can explain it.

There are these infrared receiver things that you can stick on the infrared receiver on the receiver, DVD player, VCR, etc. That have a cable running from them that you can mount in a different spot. They are so that you can leave a DVD player or whatever in a cabinet. I'm sure something like that would work for you.

That said, I have NO idea where to get one. I just remember seeing them a couple weeks ago.

That's pretty much exactly what I was talking about.

    IR repeaters, as mentioned.

but HELL NO, that niles one is shit. Do a search....there are several brands to choose from. Look at partsexpress.com, monoprice.com, hell, even radioshack.com

if you plan on using a universal remote, goto surfremote and get an RF base
