Anything is possible. But it's never really gonna be as good as a real gym, especially for 500 bucks.

Yes, you can get your basics out of the way now, and as you need more advanced stuff you just buy it as you need it. To start out you'll need a power racky, olympic weight set (300lb would be fine), and an adjustable bench.

Yes, I did this Christmas. I found that it's best to buy locally when buying equipment atleast in my case. I saved hundreds. Get an Olympic set, rack, and adjustable bench. Olympic dumb handles come in handy as well.

Keep in mind that people are almost always willing to go down on prices. I didn't pay anywhere near the stores advertised prices for anything except plates which were low to begin with.

:werd: The olympic set, adj bench, and rack is enough to keep anyone busy and gaining for at least a year.

    I've got this setup: http://powertecfitness.com/workbench_rack.htm

Paid about $150 extra to get 300lbs of oly. weights and a oly. bar as well as the lat tower. It's gym quality stuff but for me so much more conveinient (sp?).

    ps - That's $150 CDN.

Perhaps, but what kind of shipping charges to Canada on something that heavy? I got mine local and it was the same price but Canadian $. I'm sure I could've found better, but this'll do me.

    - 45LB bar
    - rack (obviously needs to be adjustable, look for one that has a top support bar you can do pullups on)
    - plates (you should only need two of each 5, 10, 25, 35 and the rest 45LB)
    - bench (adjustable for flat, incline and 90 degrees)
    - space

    Additions:

    - EZ bar
    - those things that you put on the bar to keep the plates from moving
    - dumbbells (these can be expensive, depending on which way you go)

Does it come with the chick?

(Seriously though, either she's 6'1" or that lat cable is gonna bump my head. Not to mention, how are you sposed to lock your body down when you doing lats that are your body weight? ...If money's a concern, you really don't need all that stuff.)
