i'm trying to specifically burn my lower abs, and lower side abs (love handles). however i also wanna build my upper body (chest, back, bi/tri,etc)

is it feasible to do both at once (build and burn)?

or is it recommended that i do all the building first, then cardio the rest off?

    my current routine:

    mon: chest + tri
    tuesday : off / cardio + leg
    wed: bi + shoulder
    thurs : off / cardio +leg
    fri: delts + hardcore abs
    sat+sun: off

i do ab exercises everytime i goto the gym, but on fridays, i focus alot more on it.

you should try to either lose fat, or gain muscle. it's difficult to do both at the same time.

    where's the backwork?

hardcore abs? I think you're trying to burn away fat by ab exercises, but that isn't possible... you can only do it through diet and cardio. Try PurEvl's routine (stickied thread at the top of F&N).... it's a great workout if you want a bodybuilder physique, which it sounds like you do.

for lower abs. try this: Hold a excercise ball or small weight between your legs, lift it and then bring it back down while lying on your back.

but you wont burn anything without Cardio an diet.

my thesdays and thursday i usually have it off OR (/) do cardio (30 min on tred ~3 miles) and leg workout on those machines (dunno machine names)

my back days are sorta also my bicept / shoulder days
3 sets of 10 military pullups
    3 sets of backrow cable
    3 sets of reverse butterfly.

damn... it feels like my body's outta porportion due to my side abs... cardio + diet's the only way eh?

By the questions he's asking...it just might be possible and probable if he is new to lifting.

Diffusal, how long have you been lifting for?

    30 mins on treadmill = 3 miles?

does that include the time it takes for someone to help you get your wheelchair on it? otherwise that's not very hard cardio :hahano:

That's fine actually... in fact I'd probably reccomend doing less intensity if he is trying to build.

I guess i was coming at it more from a burning perspective, so HIIT is the way to go for me.

for original poster: if i were you i'd cut down with diet first, then try to bulk up clean. it's harder, but more than likely you'll get the results that you want, specifically in the abs
