    Thoughts?

    http://gizmodo.com/5043240/unconfirmed-more-canon-eos-5d-mark-ii-specs-leak-
    lookin-good

    This comes from a dude that seems to be right a lot lately.

    * 21.1 MP 1.0x
    * DIGIC IV
    * ISO 100-6400 L:50 & H:12800
    * 5 FPS
    * 3.2" High Resolution Screen (LCD)
    * 19 point AF
    * HDMI Out
    * Liveview
    * HD Movie Mode
    * Viewfinder: 100% Coverage
    * Full weather sealing
    * EF Lenses only

    21.1 MP is considerably higher than what we've heard before, and an HD
    movie mode is a new one to pop up for this camera. But DIGIC IV, live
    view, 19 AF points and 5fps shooting make sense considering what we've
    seen before and the recently dropped 50D's specs. Again, could be BS,
    but it seems like we're getting closer. [Canon Rumors via Electronista -

    as long as it doesn't have a Nikon badge on it, you know it's gotta be good.

    Viewfinder: 100% coverage.

    This alone will sell it over d700 if price is comparable.

    This seems awesome though. If the base performance is on par with the 1ds mkIII.

    I'm just waiting on people to come in and say this camera is utter shit with a gimmick due to HD movie mode. :wiggle:

    I don't really care for that feature, Nikon or Canon. But I do see the angle that companies are trying to have with new products. I guess the improvement over existing features isn't good enough for consumers... significant leaps have already been made and the companies are seeing a 'glass ceiling' with all these features. They want to show off 'new and exciting' features so it brings in new customers that usually wouldn't go for the same ol same ol.

    Just a business/marketing ploy IMO. :dunno:

    sounds pretty cool!

    What does the HD movie mode entail? Higher res than the D90's mode?

    IMO, the 5DmkII is going to be the replacement for the 1Ds series.... so it might be the top of the line canon body, or a close 2nd behind the 1DmkIII, depends on what you're shooting....

    and I can't vouch for Nikon, but I believe the D3>D700

    D3 is the top of the line on Nikon

    1D/1Ds top of the line on Canon.

    D700 is the next step down, same with the 5D

    D3 is technically > D700

    But when you throw the grip on the D700, it's essentially the same, but with a better shutter and like one other difference

    Not exactly sure, though :o

    If this comes out at anywhere less than $5000 (Hell, maybe eve $6000), there are going to be a LOT of pissed off 1DsMKIII owners.

    Well, they can either accept it and wait for the new MKIII, oooooooooor... come on over to the Nikon side. I'm sure Nikon will welcome them with open arms.

    I was expecting it to be less than $4k. What was 5D's MSRP when it first came out?

    better be careful about posting rumors in OTAP... ;)

    If the full weather sealing is to be believed, that might imply an all new body design. :noes:

    D3 has a 9fps shutter, can fit 2 CF cards in the slots, but it doesn't have the self cleaning sensor like the D700 does. For the price of the D3, you can get a D700, a D300, and a grip that'll fit both cameras. Can't lose IMO. :dunno:
