    1. Why didnt GM or pretty much anyone use Posi in their trucks?
    2. I've heard it results in more power going to the wheels?
    3. How much would it cost to convery my 79 Sierra Classic?
    4. Is it worth it?

:ugh: Alot of manufacturers, including GM used and still use posi units in their trucks. They call them limited slip differentials sometimes. My 95 S10 had one.

No. It results in equal power being distributed to each wheel, basically it locks the two axle shafts together most of the time (it unlocks around corners) giving you more traction becuase both wheels are hooking, not just one.

Depends. You could find a junkyard axle with a posi and swap that in for under 200 bucks. A new, aftermarket posi unit can cost anywhere from $300 to $1000 depending on what features you want. Some lock/unlock at your discretion using air or electricity, but we're getting advanced for what you're looking for. Plan on around $400 for parts, labor depends on where you are.

Depends. What are you using this truck for?

If I were you I'd focus on other stuff first, yes it makes a difference, but its an involved job getting one put in.

Small lift kit, ehxaust, maybe a new carb.

I'll give you the advice I wish I had followed when I was your age. Don't go crazy on your first car, do a few little mods, but save your money. In a few years you'll be able to afford something newer/better, or you'll have wrecked the damn thing learning how to drive, and you're gonna feel like you poured a bunch of money into something you shouldnt have.

    Fuck off. :fawk:
Trust me, I'll probably have this for a while. I'm not thinking of going crazy... just a few little things. I like your idea's tho... And if I ever wreck it you can be sure its not my fault. I rock at driving. :p

if you really want to go with a posi. i'd say go with AUBURN GEAR. they do really well. i put one in my S10 and with 4:10 gears made a world of diff! but i had a small block in my truck also. but if you do get one make sure you have someone that knows what their doing do it. you gotta run a posi oil additive in that or it will screw shit up! your trk should have a 350 stock? but i would say do it! you will like it!and the pimp factor will go up, no more one legged dog BS when smokin the tires at the light!!!!
