A&P portraits

    what are some adjustments you can make in PS to a portrait? to give it that soft glow like look?

    I recall a thread but could not fing it...

    any help?

    A VERY slight blur will give you a soft focus effect. You can also try selecting the background (out of the DOF) and then feathering the selection area by say 5-10 pixels (depends on the res of the picture) and then blurring that more to make the subject stand out even more.

    try applying a smart blur to the entire picture. only blur it by about 1 pixel though or it will come out looking rendered.

    I don't like using blur for portraits... It makes them look too soft and I hate that.

    Better to overexpose 1/2-1 stop (depending on digital or film) which will wash out the skin detail and give a much softer and smooth complexion to their face.

    I will try both... I can't find the pic... but some OTer had some nice ports.
