I just adjusted the colors in LR, nothing more. Thoughts? I'm on the fence about fixing the gap in her hair on the left. I'll be retouching her face soon too.

good senior photo shot....could be the yellow all around her...but is the white balance a tiny bit off.....i'd also photoshop out those stray hairs and reduce the bags. GREAT composure though

    and ya fix the gap.

its nice, clean lighting, good expression, good color

    for improving for the future:
lower the leg, bit distracting as the underside is lighter than her face
watch the stray hair on the shoulder
bring in a fill card/reflector from camera right, it'll fill in the lines around her mouth and under the eyes better, and girls would really appreciate that
don't have her place all the weight of her head on her hands, her chin starts to get a fold line
remove the funny little stick infront of her left hand.
hand placement is unusual, but it works. hands are the hardest thing to position and models never know what to do with them.

Thanks for that. This was my first real session. I'm wanting to take more of a portrait/fashion approach to my stuff these days as I love the human interaction.

Any good reads on portrait photography? I'm looking up to you mojito. :bigthumb:

    Ricer portraits.

Agreed with the color. Looks kinda yellow/warm. But it's a nice shot albeit a bit of an extreme angle.

Uncalibrated macbook monitor FTL - need to get something to get my colors right. As far as the angle goes, I'm trying to go for a different look - not the traditional portrait. I never liked regular senior portraits myself.

 it's all about practicing and looking at others work for inspiration, then figuring out how to improve on it. Know one would ever know that was a 1st attempt, POTN would probably put it in their book

I'm thinking of making a tutorial, but for now, this was an ok read:

Yeah Ive got zero portrait experience and all I thought was that the color looks a little funny. Im not used to posing people...I just try to capture that one moment with sports. I should try and branch out more...

Maybe landscapes though..Im not a huge fan of portraiture/glam

Great composition. I think everything else has been mentioned. Definitely needs some PP on her face. Clean her up.
