I was actually really dissapointed by it. The track "fear of a blank planet" was good, but the rest of the album sucked imo. I guess after listening to deadwing so much i have set the bar too high.

Sucked.......uh not at all. "In your opinion" you would be wrong. Anesthetize is my new favorite porcupine tree song. The only problem i have with the albumis i wish it was longer. Still a contender for best of '07.

yeah, that's really my only gripe.

It sounds like they went back to the atmosphere of Lightbulb Sun, but with some heavier In Absentia/Deadwing riffs. Plus more electronic elements. Overall it is a solid album and I'm fucking stoaked to finally see them next month

I'm definitely disappointed at their turn towards heavier music. I absolutely love Deadwing and In Absentia, but I miss their older stuff with the long trippy guitar solos. Up the Downstair ftw

hey, i'm a new member...thought i'd post on a great thread first...er...i'm into obviously porcupine tree, explosions in the sky, godspeed you! black emperor, subtle, 13 & god, radiohead, do make say think, a silver mt zion...so much more...i'm a lover of music.

their newest album is okay...but it'll take me awhile to get used to it anyway (as it does when most of my favorite artists release new material). i recently just acquired all of their music through amazon, basically. even recordings & steven's blackfield ventures. i like how blackfield has more of the "lazarus" vibe. are there any other artists out there like porcupine tree?

i'm seeing porcupine tree this friday! i am so excited as it's my first time seeing them and i possibly could be meeting them too. if that does happen, any suggestions as to what i could ask the great steven wilson? i tremble thinking about it, lol.
