sweet jesus. ok, it's about a guy who works at a radio station in buttfuck nowhere doing morning drive talk. the entire movie takes place in the radio station with physical interaction between a small cast of 3 (eventually a few more but it's a real character piece). now it's quite slow at first, a little chewy with regards to the dialogue but the acting is good enough to keep you watching.

it's vaguely zombie-ish but not really. very hard to get your finger on until the 3/4 mark when you figure out what exactly is happening.

good acting. good photography. fairly clever writing (even though it departs from the book a little, which is also quite chewy but entertaining). definitely worth watching. 8/10

I liked it. It got a little weird and "out there" when they gave the explanation, but I have an uncanny ability to suspend disbelief when the story is internally consistent. So it was ok. Up to that point it was amazing, after that, not as much, but still good.

    7.5/10. Will watch again.

Man, I was loving it, the way they were telling the story, the view of the characters, it was all going so good....then, out of nowhere, the fucking stupid reason for everything. (Without giving spoilers) Let me just say that I was fucking bummed out when the reason was given, and there were holes (1 for sure that keeps bugging me). Overall, 4/10. Up to the point when everything was explained, 8/10.

Okay, people can only get infected through English....WTF??? So, the world is safe if they don't speak 1 of the languages???? I'm sorry, but that is just fucking dumb, and should have been explained better. Oh yeah, how about the whole understanding thing? People can only understand words in English? Man, those poor fuckers all around the world that never learn English, how do they communicate when they don't understand the language or the meaning of words they are speaking?

That didn't bother me. In fact, it works pretty well for me. You don't get it from EVERY language, just the one that's infected. I figure something happened in the US or England, and that's how it started.

The problem is bilingual people. They can understand and catch it from English, then translate it to French, and spread it to all the French speakers. :o

I didn't like the premise of a "lifeform that lives in language and feeds on understanding". I guess they were going for a brain/language equivalent of the computer virus, but it could have been better.

Umm, there were bilingual people in the movie, remember? that is how they avoided the fucking thing...thus my frustration with that explanation.

Yeah, that's the only real plot hole that I noticed. But it didn't bug me that much.

It was great until the end. The concept was good, but I bet it was hard to execute.

i liked the end. apparently it was built to accommodate two sequels (finishing off the book) so nothing was really explained. dunno what happened with the other two films... lost in limbo.
