Pontiac GTO Gets 350 Horsepower

Discussion in 'OT Driven' started by theSadisticBunny, Jun 18, 2003.

  1. Pontiac said on Tuesday that its new GTO will sport a mighty 350 hp when it goes on sale in limited numbers this fall. The LS1 V-8-powered GTO will make its 350 hp at 5200 rpm, and will churn out 365 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm - enough, Pontiac says, to push the 2004 GTO to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 14 seconds. Drivers will have a choice of automatic or six-speed manual gearboxes. GM says pricing should find the base GTO coming in at less than $35,000.

No surprise there, I'm just glad they fixed how they're doing the exhaust and went to the quad tip setup they're gonna use

i think the GTO will turn out to be a high/mid 13 second car when all is said and done.

I want one... Im sure it can do better than 14s, but you do need to factor in weight... its probably a heavier car than your standard F-Body since its a sedan type car... I dont actually know the weight though :hs:

More than likely, I've seen some pretty nice numbers from mostly bolt-on ls1s though, shouldn't be too hard to get some the same in the GTO  :x:

Once again folks, there is alot more than 1/4 mile time to a car...

Fit and finish is a huge step up from the old F-bodys.

No, they spent a shitload of time in the exhaust sound department, heard a .wav of it and it sounds pretty badass to me, I'm sure the thread is still around in the american muscle section.
