Polishing speed..

    Just got a bottle of optimum polish. the instructions says to use at 1500rpms with a buffer. is it safe to go any faster?

    It isn't necessary. Optimum abrasives are organic and break down via shear force, not heat. Besides, lower speeds reduce swirls.

    2,500-6,000, but it's a different animal than a rotary. 1500rpm via rotary is a pretty standard speed.

    I mean more so, aprox what RPM is each speed set for, 1-6

    No idea. I use 3 to apply waxes or sealants (like Carnauba Moose or NXT) and 5-6 for polishing and swirl removal.

    when you apply the swirl removal with speeds 5-6 how do you do it? one slow pass or multiple fast passes? thanks!

    I was just wondering about compound use. I'm using poorboys ssr2 and dabbing about this much on the pad and placing in a few spots on my hood

    It seems that it will break down into a very dry haze and I feel like I should be using more on a second pass on the hood. How often should you reapply compound to the pc?
