I have just quit smoking, and I have problems with the cartilege in my left knee so I have trouble running for any period of time. Can you suggest some alternative cardio exercise, other than riding or swimming?

You'll probably gain alot of weight if you just quit, nicotine gum/patch will help alot with that.

biking outside is extremely fun, and provides you with something different everyday. It's also zero impact.

If you (like me) live in an area that experiences 4 seasons, a stationary/recumbent bike also works, it just isn't as fun. :o

    Swimming ftmfw.

I swim 4x a week, two of the days I swim breast 1000m and the other two days I swim side/combat stroke for 1500m.

I wish I never had to run because swimming is so awesome/easy :wtc:.

Does anyone know how cross country skiing is on the joints? I figure I'm in Calgary and we're gonna get a ton of snow, so might as well enjoy it.
