I just purchased a xps m1330 laptop, it got delivered today and I found a problem. I installed skype and also sightspeed to use the video chatting. However, on the receiving end, my voice is completely distorted. There is no crackling or static, the sound comes out fine, but its a very low pitch, and sounds like some voice masking. So Im guessing there is a problem with the microphone..

I tried the voice recorder and also both sightspeed and skype to test it out, but it had the same problem. I called dell but the idiot was useless and wasted an hour of my time. Is there some setting that I need to change?? Please help!!

You could check the line settings for the microphone in the sound properties. Maybe adjusting the level will clear things up. Is it possible to plug in a external mic to test?

It could be something wrong with the mic and you'll have to go through Dell with that if so...
