For my job i drive alot, and i mean alot. 200 miles or more per day, and my std cab s10 xtreme is getting to tight. I need a very relialble car all year round including the winter time with the snow. I was pricing a new 07 civic for 16 which gets 30 mpg city, and 38 mpg highways. It is a nice looking car, a litte underpowered 140 hp and fwd, but great gas, roomy.

The wrx sedan is much faster and fun to drive 227 hp, gets about 25 mpg highway, uses 93 octane only, but is awd and accelerates quicker and handles better. I like both cars, but i do like the wrx better due to the snow in the northeast. At the same time with gas the wrx lacks mpg and has to use 93 octane. What would u guys buy for a everyday driver? I dont want to buy a pos car either since im in the car all day long, i rather have something i enjoy a little more. I looked at many car already and narrowed it down to these 2, just need help making a choice.

IMO get the WRX it will be well worth the extra $2 each fill up. The AWD will be worth it when the snow is out.

Having something with pep will make your drive much more bearable. Spend the money you would otherwise waste on booze on gasoline for the WRX instead.

the rex is good for the rain/snow...BUT

gas will kill you on the rex compared to the civic.

AWD's a bitch for gas mileage. All that extra hardware weighs more and sucks up torque.

    wow

do u have some mods that is helping u get that good mileage.? i can deal with those types of numbers since i should even get better ? The wrx is a little less powerful, so i should get maybe 25-27?

    Civic ftw.
My car eats premium gas at low mpg too and its annoying. Work driving hardly ever means fun--it means mostly boring city driving. So unless you plan on many track days and weekend roadtrips, forget the WRX.

you would get better gas mileage with the civic for sure, but i think being so slow would make you sad, get the rex

Honestly, I have absolutely no faith in Subaru AWD. I live in Southern Oregon and we see a fair amount of snow. When I drive through the pass, or go up to Mount Ashland I see nothing but Subarus stuck! My Chevy/GMC/Toyota 4x4's and my Volvo FWD/AWD vehicles have never had a problem on the same roads -- but every trip I see at least two Subarus that get stuck!

Honestly, Volvo FWD beats Subaru AWD. And 4x4 beats em all.

So if you're somehow factoring AWD as being a big help -- DONT. The Civic's FWD system will do fine for what you want. Decide what you want based on the car. Personally, I think the Honda will be less expensive to maintain -- and will probably last longer. The Honda is also MUCH better looking. However, if I didn't think the WRX was a womans car, I would probably buy it over the Civic.

awd does not make snow any less slippery.

i suggest the civic for lower insurance rates, better mpg, and enough power to get you through city/highway driving.

there are far too many subaru sackriders on ot.

go with the civic, since you drive around a lot for work. The civic has better gas mileage than the wrx. If you don't mind paying more for gas, then get the wrx.

ok people he says he drives about 200 miles or more a day... that's 1400 miles a week.. that is alot of time spent filling gas.. i say go with the civic.. i'm also thinking about buying a honda, but i'm gonna get the fit.. my 240sx eats up way too much gas..
